Gabriel and Michael, two extraordinary holy messengers from Allah, came to him. There are various customs regarding the sincerity of reciting this surah For example, one convention says that the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) was found to be seriously ill. ‘O slave of Allah, encourage that Allah has accepted your Witr prayer’. ‘He who recites Surah Falaq, Nas and Ikhlas in his Witr prayer will be told While Surah al-Falaq protects us from the deviless of humanity, Surah An Nas protects us from Jinn and Satan.Īccording to the tradition of Imam Baqir (R.A) it is said: This surah is used for insurance in connection with the surah before it (Surah Al-Falaq). It was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) when a witch put a spell on him, causing him trouble. All these three bring destruction and a wide variety of problems for an individual, so reciting this surah can help keep these three shades of evil in check. In Surah An-Nas there is the protection against evil murmuring of Satan, the evil murmuring of humans and the jinn. If we think about the meaning of the Surah a Naas verses, at that point we can see that this Surah is somehow similar to Surah al Falaq where one asks for protection from Allah Almighty.
Surah An-Nas and Surah Falak together are called Al-Mu’awwidhatayn. This Surah was revealed on the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W) along with Surah Falak in Mecca when he was under the spell of black magic. It consists of 6 verses based on taking refuge from Shaytaan’s harm. Surat an Nas is the last surah in the order of the Quran.
